It seems like the world of drum plug-ins is dominated by three players: Native Intruments, FXPansion, and Ableton. Have you used any of their drums (or anyone else’s) on your tracks? If so, what did you think?
I dont really use one, I did like the redrum in reason. however I am gonna give guru a go soon

I’m not sure…atleast from just listening to the sample on FXPansion’s site–nothing really popped out at me on the Guru playlist.
So what do you use instead of plugins?
drum machine and piano roll in ableton, the only reason to use a plugin to easy of use and a few nifty effects but over all you dont really need it in abelton… I just wanna try something new
I said I wouldnt - but I’ve been messing around with the demo of D16’s Drumazon.
Its a 909 emulation. Only does 909. They’ve got 808’s and 303’s also.
Its fkn class. You have to read the manual though before you use it! LOL
This vid shows a fair bit of what you need to know. Really thinking about getting it.
It just sounds alive. The accents & shuffle in it are top.

I miss redrum… and matrix.
Check out the D16 Drumazon… kinda similar (seeing that its based on the Roland stuff)
Only thing is that you cant import your own samples. I dont see that as being important though. Think Audio Realism do a yoke called the ADM - which is a 808/909 all-in-one jobby & you can load in your own samples.
No midi to track or drag/drop though, in either. You save patterns & draw in long notes in your midi editor to change them (or you can draw in individual hits).
Read somewhere that you can record the midi out in Live to another channel also… so if that works (aint tried it…) you could drag that over.
Its gotta be for me, abletons in built drum rack really coz im used to it, and the flexibility is amazing

Yeah gotta agree, but NI Maschine is getting me wet
what about geist?
I have guru. It is the SH*T! It allows you to actually use all the freaking drum loops you get from vengeance or xfer without sounding like a tool. I prefer to do my own drums, but if I need to use a loop then I use guru to make sure that whatever sample I use will be original to my track.
so how does guru work with loops? might fire it up in a min and take a look
its great. guru analyzes the loops and seperates each instrument. you can basically turn off and move around the parts by clicking the little buttons in the play area of the loop on guru’s window… so you only get what you want from the loop and makes it completely original.
i am using it right now wayne for a trance track i’m working on.
Basically I have a hit-hat loop that I like alot except for 2 parts of it. So I can throw the loop into guru take out the parts that I don’t like and make a few small changes to the parts that I do like. Now its not a crappy vengeance loop. It’s mINE!
opening it to check this out now. I dont have a bloody clue where to start with guru but now is a good a time as any to dive in
just had a quick play around with it and I like it, pretty cool with the loops, ableton can do this with the slice to midi thing as well but I guess there is a lot more you can do with guru - will test this more tomorrow when in the studio
There was a bit of a thread about Guru before…
I did a rough quick start guide thingy in one of my posts…

i use battery to handle my drums, i like it, work quickly with it,
ableton’s in house stuff is good but i just prefer things to be a bit bigger
favourite drum samples… gold baby or wave alchemy
Computer Music put a stripped down version of Guru on the front of their mag a few months back. I got it but wasn’t really that impressed. What’s different in the main version?
I really want to get Xfer Nerve
