No problems at all
I used to use Dreamweaver a lot myself but then moved to the CMS (Content Management Solutions) its just a lot easier. Everything is there for you and you just edit at you will hah!
If you goto Wordpress.org you can either view a demo online or download it. Its all free like, open source.
Yeah. Jak…
I looked at ur code…
For some of your links you have it set to this:
<a href=“http://blog.housejak.com/?page_id=135” target=“_blank”>
Remove the _blank… that makes the link open in a new window.
You dont need that. I dont usually ever set targets unless I want a pop up or new window.
Yeah customer service for 1&1 has been really good so far, no issues at all and free 24/7 tech support. Thumbs up for me… spoke to the tech gusy tonight about upgrading to the new SQL package and they said it should be easy to sidegrade so just need to talk to billing tomorrow - then I’ll know how good they really are depending on what they do! :hehe:

Cheers that will help me too!
looks interestig. can you place flash items on the site with wordpress?
i’m trying to get my head round wordpress atm, but I figured that producing the actuall content should come first
but this came in soundcloud email today, [url=http://blog.soundcloud.com/2010/06/22/flavorsme/?utm_source=soundcloud&utm_medium=blog&utm_term=&utm_content=&utm_campaign=nl-july-2010]SoundCloud » Need A Light-Weight Artist Or Band Website? Look No Further!
it seems like a nice idea for an artist page, and you can get up and running pretty quickly, worth checking out
Dreamweaver is good if you want a static website.
Using Wordpress or other CMS solutions are the way to go.
The reason for this is that you can build community features & applications into a CMS where you can’t really do this easily with Dreamweaver. Most people I know that dont know code use DW for code editing because it makes it a lot easier.
I’ve been doing code for over 10 years, so to me it is just easier and I do it by hand.
If you wanted a photo gallery, twitter app, facebook app, events calendar… then using a CMS like wordpress is the way to go because these plugins can be added in for nothing.
Actually I have been debating on trying to hock my services on here for creating sites.
I have a business for making websites that I feature only open source software. The reason for this is that I can charge a lot less money to make sites then most people and I can add all the cool features that people really want nowadays.
Ahh I’m sure you wont have any problems mate, if they have been this good upto now, can’t see them screwing that up!
Of course! Hah! Thanks for pointing that out! All sorted now, cheers for the input fella!

Basically, the possibilities are endless with Wordpress as with the majority of open source products.
Deffo worth the move folks, you wont regret it!

the problems with websites like flavor is that you are kinda limited in the application world. they make it easy sure. ive seen tons of services that do the same thing. but where is the forum if I want one? What about if I want a photo gallery? then it becomes extremely limiting…

looks good but something like wordpress is free and the best thing for me is using a hosting provider allows you to host files and provide direct downloads links etc. I have my own podcast on iTunes so need this function and the cost is only a wee bit more.
So anyone thinking of having a site may want to take things like this into consideration depending on what your plan on doing

Im not sure if i follow your post right gf… Wordpress is free and downloadable and then you put it on your own server… so you can still access everything… sorry if i miss-read your post!

Here is a Solid Ranking for all those people interested in this stuff…
All of these are Open Source (FREE) Contest Management Systems.
Wordpress: The most popular and easiest to learn. Tons of Applications. Easy Installation. Great for small sites & newbies to creating websites. Can be kind of slow when you have lots of content. Overall a great solution. You can even use their free hosted solution (although this is not recommended because then everbody will know what kind of site it is and where it is… by everybody I mean web people).
Joomla: Extremely popular. Easy Installation. Thousands of Plugins & Extentions. Very Easy to Use once you get the hang of it. Loads of Documentation. Can create a Small site or a Large Community. Sometimes you have to pay for the best plugins which sucks. Overall it is a great performer and a better solution than Wordpress for the more knowledgeable user. Although a newbie can learn Joomla, the learning curve is higher than Wordpress. Great for Anybody or Anything. There are limitations to scalability. Must have a webhost to run Joomla.
Drupal: Rated the #1 CMS on the Web. Easy Installation. Thousands of Plugins. Many huge sites use Drupal (MTV.co.UK, Whitehouse.gov). Drupal is by far the most scalable and complete solution. You can do anything with it. IT is by far the hardest to learn and has the steepest learning curve. After you learn it, I could literally re-create the entire Sonic Academy Website minus all the content in less than a week. Everything about it is free, Except Templates. You Must Have a webhost to run Drupal. Hardest to Use but Most Reward.
Thats my review for the top 3 Free CMSs. There are others but those are the best. I dont really use Wordpress a lot because I am extremely versed in Joomla & Drupal. Anytime anybody has any questions about any of these. Feel free to ask. Just remember this… Setting up the site is easy… Filling it with content is ALWAYS the most time extensive part. Make sure the content is good. Dont just post up anything or people that visit will think your site is Sh*T.
sure its limiting, but if you want to get a page up and running in 10 minutes than it seems like a good option, you can integrate all the main sites and have a presence on the internet in few minutes, which seems a good option for someone not accustomed to web design, all tho wordpress isn’t all that complicated either
