My pleasure mate and a job well done on the site, looks great!

In terms of plug-ins, it really depends what your looking for. Wordpress is very dynamic when it comes to plugins, usually they have everything you could ever want covered… a little like the iPhone… where there is an APP for everything, Wordpress has a Plugin for everything lol.

I would have a look on http://wordpress.org and browse there plugins, something might jump out at cha.

ahaha awesome. Desperation.

Loosen your chinstrap hero, you drooling dellusional cock end.

Egg2 / Scott - Wind down with the abusive language please

I want to see the major fun to be honest.

Its ironic that this thread is called “Getting Noticed”.

Honestly… time for everyone to ignore this Thread.

End it now Lads before the bad feeling is brought into other threads. I’ve noticed it already… so please quit it.

Otherwise, this place is going to end up like everywhere else.
roben (25/07/2010)
Egg2 / Scott - Wind down with the abusive language please
I’ve reported them both… I know, i will probably get my *** flamed for it BUT it needed to be bought to someone’s attention and stopped before it gets out of control.

I certainly do not appreciate being ganged up on for sharing a different opinion. Seems I have struck a nerve and certain individuals should think before posting, it doesn’t take a behavioural Psychologist to work out what went on. I’m happy enough to drop it, I’m just chilling out watching the F1, but I await the ensuing AWAWAWAWAWAWA.

Ok scott.

There is no ganging up, but you touched a nerve with a lot of people, personaly i could care less. All that i dislike is two people with a clear passion for music and production bickering over something that’s irrelevant = opinion

The pathetic thing is, to make your points clear you’re all resorting to childish name calling and abuse that we used to do when we were in school.

Sure, make your opinon heard, but there’s no need for the insults and abuse?

Now please, lets all just forget all this and move on. Agree to disagree.

ADMIN PLEASE LOCK / DELETE THREAD

Lock maybe but do not delete, there is useful and interesting information in here that some of us maybe to reffer back to. Over look the bad parts and we’re all good.

Big deals over nothing… meh
dannycueballtaylor (24/07/2010)
Hey guys,

I often see budding producers on Soundcloud and similar sites getting big hits on their tracks literally as soon as they post them, like 200 plus listens in a day. I’m not talking established artists or even particularly decent tracks. But these guys seem to get alot of hits, is it that they are SpamPests or do they have a secret? Maybe some of you more experienced guys can share your views/ideas on how to get yourself maximum exposure, without becoming a SpamPest(c)?

Cheers,

Danny.
Most of us are on forums that have feedback threads, you upload your track to soundcloud, then post it in a feedback thread and other forum members will leave crit on your tunes. I’m on DSF (dubstepforum) and if you post a tune in the feedback thread you’ll get about 20 responses for it. There’s that, plus if you put the track in your sig (which is pretty standard over there) people see it in your posts and listen and sometimes leave comments because of that.

There’s also facebook accounts to take into consideration, if you’re using facebook to network (as I do) you’ve over 100 friends who are for the most part producers like yourself you’re going to get a lot of comments from that.

There’s also a sort of unspoken rule that if you get crit you should give it back because soundcloud is a pretty closely knit community. So you can abuse this if you want, and spend a day or two giving crit to people in order to get it returned. It’s a little self-serving but let’s face it, everyone wants feedback so they can improve so a lot of people do it too and nobody really sees it in a bad light because we all understand you’re there to learn and improve and as long as you’re giving valid crit and not just spamming “cool tune bro” on every track you see you should be ok.

You are also able to send notifications to people of new tracks you’ve got up, a lot of these I get say something like “you have been sent a track by _______ it has been shared to you and 903489494859 other people” - these messages are annoying as hell, I will admit they are a good way to get views, but annoying none the less.

Those things taken into consideration are probably why those guys are getting so many crits so fast. After a while when you break the 400ish follower mark you’ll notice almost immediate crit.

Also for what it’s worth, I’m signed to two labels (both of whom came to me) thanks to exposure on sound cloud. I’ve never sent off a demo in my life. (Not saying that you shouldn’t, this is just something I decided ages ago) - I also get requests from new labels to sign my tunes on a near daily basis, requests for collaborations from other well established and signed artists and requests to do remixes for other labels and artists. So anybody who says people on sound cloud are there because labels won’t touch them is slightly underestimating the talent there. A lot of big artists use it. Nearly every big dubstep artist is on there. (Note, I said dubstep, not brostep)

So anybody who says people on soundcloud are there for a pat on the back or because labels won’t touch them doesn’t quite have their facts right.

Also, getting involved in name calling via the internet will be very damaging for anybody looking to get signed as most labels WILL do a search on you and will find your post history, and even if you’re posting under a different name they’re usually able to tie it all together.

If you have a bad attitude you’re not getting signed.

EDIT: You should use every resource you have at your disposal, myspace, facebook, soundcloud, bandcamp, torrent sites, production forums, genre specific forums, reverb nation, youtube - to name a few. If you’re not making full use of all of these, then you should be. The best way to get signed, imo, is not to send off demos, but to get noticed.

There’s nothing wrong with self-promotion. Nothing at all. Don’t listen to people who say otherwise. Maybe 1% of people who try in this game will get signed without making an effort to and never sending off demos and not putting their stuff out there, but for the rest of us we’ve got to make a name for ourselves before you get signed and one of the best places to do that right now is online.

Make a plan, learn about the tools you have at your disposal for promoting yourself, and get to work.

If you want to get signed you have to see this as business as well as music.
