Slender offerered me a teabag, i thought he meant a brew but it turned out he meant something else

Its funny how my name gets mentioned over and over again in a thread about breaking the law :stuck_out_tongue:

There is no money in electronic music unless your like david guetta. Its funny sending out emails to upload sites threatening to sue them tho…
gofunk (31/03/2011)
yeah I was wondering about theses, I read about them but you wouldnt be able to do this if your track is signed to a label right?
Its a bit harder if you have signed a long term publishing or recording deal you basically get about 25% less money and your publisher/ label has to agree to do it…

These days its unlikely and pointless signing anything more than one or two tracks to a label unless your a pop star.

The production music stuff can be great money… It takes an absolute age to see any cash tho… took me about a year and a half… by that time id stop doing it… didnt seem to be working… which it was.

Producing/writing for other DJs can be a decent way to earn a living… make sure you get a cut on the publishing tho… know quite a lot who dont which is mental if you think that you are writing at least half the track… normally all of it.

Its a great way to get better at producing… it can really wear you out creatively tho after a while be carful not to over do it. I still do it from time to time just for the craic of trying to finish a full track in a couple of days.

are you refering to the production libraries here mate?

might be worth just putting stuff on them just to see if anything happens when I get a bit better!
chekka (31/03/2011)
i read about the andres gil / reiner weichold thing on facebook

according to andres he had sent it in as a demo and was told “no thanks”

andres posted up a copy paste of the email from weicholds label

then a while later this track appeared

the credit for gil seems to have been added later - it was originally touted as a reiner weichold track with no mention of gil
Pretty amazing. Didn’t knew this. Loved Couscous though

Here’s Andres screenprint of it all:

Link doesn’t work

Before in this tread we were talking bit bout people getting ripped off. Well

this has been pissing me off for a little while now

Check out this guy fabiano’s track tambores

https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/track/catalog/?contextType=artists&contextName=Fabiano&contextEntityId=172014

Such a baltant rip of this Kaiserdisco track

Been in beatport minimal charts for a while now to. I'm sure at one point or another most producers have 'stole' a little bit from other peoples tracks, like kicks and snares, bits of percussion, but you do it with a bit of stealth like. Not just rip off a tune this obviously!

In the Netherlands they have something like Buma/Stemra - Wikipedia that at least will collect money if your music is played at large events, established clubs, and radio. There are some caveats though.

Yeah. Cause Bume Stemra is sitting on a big pile of money and artist don’t get ****.

T-Spoon is waiting for some years on his money. Got lawyers dealing with eachother, but still to no avail. While Buma Stemra collected millions from youtube for showing all kinds of music clips.

I would be more concerned with the amount of money you lose to the distributors that are just a middle men between labels and retail… but yes I’ve heard the same argument against B/S. Even thought I have known more people to benefit from it, and have only heard negative things through rumors and hearsay.

So who is it that is buying peoples tracks, then copying them and posting them on illegal download sites?

Who does this? And why?

Why would you?

I just don’t get it?

When people download from sites like Rapidshare and Zippyshare they sometimes offer rewards which can be in the form of money… As such it is technically partly those sites fault in offering a reward which is absolutely unnecessary.

To earn money people will upload to those sites and get money from people downloading.

Dont know how it works on torrents though, but if I remember correctly from back when I used to be a kid and download crap loads of porn (“Back”… hehe) there were plenty of trojans and keyloggers which = bank details and therefore money.

Some people just do it cause they think they are the equivalent modern day Robin Hood.

I see, so we think it is a combination of:

1 - People who get money for uploading illegally copied music onto sharing sites, every time someone downloads the music they have uploaded

2 - Criminals who upload music hoping that when people download it, they will be forced into disclosing personal information that the criminals can then use to screw them!

3 - People who are just a bit weird, and upload music that other people can then illegally download for free, because it makes them feel good and they think they are offering some kind of important service to society or something!

Does this cover all reasons why someone would possible upload copyrighted material for others to download illegally for free?

Or are we missing something?

Its cause the get paid for ads on their site mainly.

Phil - but surely the people that actually upload the copyrighted material illegally, don’t get any revenue from the advertising on these sites?

Are you saying that the founders of sites such as Rapidshare and torrent sites, actually upload copyrighted material themselves in order to drive taffic to their sites, so that they can make money from advertising revenue on their sites?

Because otherwise, surely it’s not going to be the same people, setting up the site, and then uploading the copyrighted material?

dirty ****ers!

You’re BP link isn’t working properly anymore, but here it is once more:

Beatport

Besides, he primarily used the stab from Kaiserdisco. And maybe they got it from a sample CD…
