Listening right now cheers ICN
Interesting technique here - basically gating a chord pattern or whatever with an entire drum loop.
You could get some pretty mad sounding stuff doing thisā¦ especially if you used fx liberally after the gate.
Channel: Gateā¦ Autofilter / Delayā¦ Reverbā¦ Comp?
Might sound good & not āhouse-yā

Hi, new to the forum. After reading all 57 pages of posts for this topic I figured some of you know more than most on production. My production is rooted from Chicago and Detroit, past 3 years Iāve been DJāing more Berghain Techno sounds such as Peter Van Hoesen, Shed, Sandwell District, Ben Klockā¦etc and Iām focusing my production in that direction. So Iāve been struggling lately with reproducing a similar lead bass as PVH uses in most of his production. Iām using sylenth and so far Iāve come close to it but Iām missing something in the sylenth settingsā¦Iāve tried using a triangle and sine with some tweaking of the oscās and adding reverb and distortionā¦I was hoping that there would be a clip for production tips that would point me in the right directionā¦but so far Iām at a loss.
Welcome aboard. Too early in the morning to answer your question though
Maybe you could post something you would like to recreate and we may be able to help
I noticed you posted in the clr thread but you may also be interested in this one too (only 155 pages)

That should keep you busy and feel free to post there too mate
Ok
Italian scientists Giulio Casati and Stefano Lepri think theyāve found the mathematical principles required for a sonic one-way mirror. Though purely theoretical, the pairās work predicts that it is possible to construct a material that would prevent sound from passing through on one side, but allow it from the other. The practical upshot is that were you to sit in a room with walls made of this material, you could hear everything outside the room but no one could hear you.
Lepri and Casait uses ānonlinear propertiesā to achieve this feat. Looking at previous research done with diodes that distribute heat asymmetrically, the pair found that it is possible to apply similar principles to sound. Discovery News writes:
To direct sound waves, the researchers propose alternating layers of linear and strongly nonlinear materials asymmetrically. With the right formation, when a sound wave enters from one side, it will essentially get caught in the material and then be redirected. This is because the frequency is shifting in two different directions, Casati explained.
Though they believe that such material is physically possible, that does not mean that constructing such a material is feasible. But even if their work is never functionally realized, Casati and Lepri have shown that the math, at least, can make sound do amazing things.
Welcome to the forum, very pleased to have another tech head on board especially as I love all the artists you mentioned
Jason, I had a quick listen to some of his stuff on YT - Seems to be using a lot of 303.
Sounds more like a 303 square than a saw.
Post some stuff in the CLR thread Mate
