Where do you get ideas and inspiration from
scott (18/07/2010)
What the hell is experimental House? Surely that’s a contradiction in terms. Last I heard it’s back to “jackin’” Disco loops. Jesus wept.
Straight from Wikipedia… just to clear things up! lol
Later in the period much experimental electronica, (particularly sound artists such as Pole, Mika Vainio, Ryoji Ikeda, Christian Fennesz, Aphex Twin (drukQs, 2000) and Autechre) expanded the themes of ‘ambient’ along the lines of earlier 1970s ambient music & dub but with increasingly abstracted sample-based textures and digital electronics that ultimately began to converge with minimalist compositions and music concrete.

“The program has defined its own niche — a mix of ambient, electronic, world, New Age, classical and experimental music…Slow-paced, space-creating music from many cultures — ancient bell meditations, classical adagios, creative space jazz, and the latest electronic and acoustic ambient music are woven into a seamless sequence unified by sound, emotion, and spatial imagery.” Stephen Hill, co-founder, Hearts of Space, essay titled Contemplative Music, Broadly Defined
Jackin and Fidget is coming back massively in Birmingham at the moment with the likes of Will Bailey and Punk Rolla running there RocknRolla night and Hard-House is coming back bigger than ever too!

Jackin, Fidget and Hard-House have all had there time previously, hence why I said there making a comebac… Lol so no, I’m not joking. Are you saying that because the area that you reside hasn’t experienced it or in general?

Jesus wept. All these daft genre titles remind me of nonsense like NU NRG. House is far from experimental, it’s a ***** cliche. It’s been done and done and done to death until it now sounds like a piss-take of itself. Even this slowpish nu disco nonsense is a rehash of what some scenesters in London used to refer to as Balearic Beat.

Someone’s rattled this morning aren’t they… lol no neeeeeeeeed to be sooooooooo aggressive is there?!

It’s blue words typed on a blueish-tinged background. It’s not aggressive, I just think you’re a bit daft.

lol im not daft at all, its there in blue and slightly tingled white background for your reading… experimental IS about…

What in the name of Jeebus have Plaid, Autchre, LFO, Nitzer Ebb etc etc etc have to with House.

A little unsure myself but if its on Wiki, its right :stuck_out_tongue:

Experimental House is music that only Fellas like - LOL

Seriously though… that Wiki stuff is just wrong in this context (I know HJ is being tounge in cheek about the ref. anyway… so its cool).

Experimental house might be something like Akufen or Robag Wruhme or something.

Without going too much into it all - 4/4 stuff is everywhere… even in DnB & D’step.

Listen to Floorfillers with Scott Mills & you’ll hear experimental handbag house… w.all the Pop Tunes thrown onto a Dance Beat. Now, if thats not playing with fire… what is?

:Whistling:  :D:hehe: .

So you mean Tech House, then? If you want to check some very good House music you could do worse than tracking down some old Francois Kervorkian, Eric Kupper, old Deep Dish, Brian Transeau, Attaboy, Charles Webster, Danny Tenaglia, F.O.S, Swag tracks/remixes or bits on the likes of Toko, Paper or Pagan records. These are defunkt labels, but personally I’d rather have these influence me than any of the guff around now.

To my mind this is one of the best Tech(ish) House tracks ever put out, but there’s no vid on Youtube for it. It’s the Morales Bad Yard Club remix of this

I like that Buzzin Cuzzins track, nice shout Scott! See, you and me can be friends!:hehe:

What you think about this BOMB?!

I used to play Green Velvet in my techno set many many years ago - great track

Yeah, GV was awesome, but that level of dirt isn’t acceptable today (un)fortunately?

If that’s the kind of stuff you’re into, then you should try and find some Junior Vasquez sets or Dj Pierre, or indeed Armand Van Helden. Yar AVH was a very different proposition back then, before he got big with the Professional Widow remix

Level of dirt?

Yeah, hardware programmed. Samples from vinyl. Overdriven and distorted. Underproduced for effect. Everything now is expected to be squeeky clean and buff, even hard Techno.
